CHC is excited to announce a new award for excellence in Christian education with a $5,000 cash prize. 

We want to celebrate the outstanding contribution of Christian teachers across our nation and recognise teachers who not only help students to thrive academically but holistically through faith.

This award is open to all educators in Christian schools around Australia.

A teacher who contributes to the development of Christian education through capacity building of colleagues by demonstrating expert knowledge, mentoring, and sharing best practice of teaching strategies which embody faith.

A teacher who inspires students to live out the Christian values of the school through a significant outstanding engagement, and contribution to a distinctively Christian school culture.

A teacher who integrates faith and learning in innovative and successful ways resulting in excellent student outcomes. They are facilitating student academic achievement and holistic personal growth.

 

Nominate Now!

To nominate a teacher please complete the nomination form by 28 February 2025 and include two supporting testimonials from a student and colleague and a letter of support from the Principal.

The 2025 winner of Australia's Christian Teacher of The Year will be selected by a selection panel made up of leaders nominated from a range of Christian education peak bodies. The winner will be announced at the 2025 National Policy Forum in Canberra and awarded the $5,000 cash prize. 

 

Frequently Asked Questions:

CHC Awards are open to dedicated professionals within the Christian education sector* who meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a qualified teacher working in a Christian primary, secondary, P-12, or special school in Australia 

  • Must have been employed by the organisation for a minimum of one year​

CHC reserves the right to verify the information related to nominations to ensure eligibility criteria are met.

*Example of schools within the Christian education sector include Christian Schools Australia, Christian Education National, Associated Christian Schools, Australian Association of Christian Schools, Seven Day Adventist, Anglican, Lutheran, any other independent Christian schools.

  • Educational Christian Education Bodies:

    • Including parent associations, student councils, management committees or governing body.

  • Individuals:

    • Including school leaders, teaching staff, non teaching staff, educators, parents, grandparents, or guardians of students and members of the community.
      Note, individuals may wish to nominate an educator from their children's school even if this is not their workplace.

  • Community Organisations:

    • Independent nominations accepted.

  • Step 1:

    • Nominations received by the online nomination form

  • Step 2:

    • Members of the selection panel will develop a shortlist
    • Shortlisted nominees may be contacted to confirm details. Further information may be sought from relevant school leadership

  • Step 3:

    • All nominees will receive a certificate of commendation
    • Members of the selection panel select the 3 finalists.

    • The finalist will be contacted arrangement made for them to travel to the 2025 National Policy Forum where the winner will be announced.

      Step 4:

      ​Employers will be informed about any nominee within their organisation and the nominee will be sent Certificate of Commendation. Schools or education bodies may choose to publicly acknowledge and celebrate the recognition of these educators by members of their community.

 

​​The selection panel comprised of leaders from a range of Christian education peak bodies across Australia which will assess nominees on the following 3 criteria.

 

1. Leading & Sharing

A teacher who contributes to the development of Christian education through capacity building of colleagues by demonstrating expert knowledge, mentoring, and sharing best practice of teaching strategies which embody faith.

2. Explore & Inspiring

A teacher who inspires students to live out the Christian values of the school through outstanding engagement, and significant contribution to a distinctively Christian school culture.

3. Teaching & Achieving

A teacher who integrates faith and learning in innovative and successful ways resulting in excellent student outcomes. They are facilitating student academic achievement and holistic personal growth. 

CHC will not:

Disclose the nominator’s identity to the nominee, media or an outside organisation without prior permission of the nominator.
